Lesson Policies

I have taught horn players of all levels, from beginner-professional. I love to teach, and I especially enjoy teaching beginners, as I can start them on the right path to easy horn playing immediately, with less to fix later. With intermediate/advanced hornists, I focus on troubleshooting, musicianship, and helping you become your own teacher. With professionals, I focus on audition preparation and general musicianship.

I charge $40 per lesson for a 45 minute lesson. All lessons for the month are due at the 1st lesson of each month. I email invoices before the month’s lessons begin to help everyone keep track. Payment is due in advance at the beginning of the month for the entire month.  I accept PayPal, Zelle or personal check as payment methods.

Unless cancelling due to illness, please give me 24 hours advance notice by email or phone if you must cancel your lesson, and I will try to reschedule.  Likewise, I will do the same if I need to cancel. If we cannot arrange a suitable make-up lesson, I will credit you for the next month. Otherwise, no credits will be given for missed lessons.

At times I have a busy performance schedule and may need to reschedule lessons. I will try to give you notice at the beginning of the month if this happens.

Please be prepared for your lesson by having practiced daily the week before. Yes, we all have busy lives, but at the very least, I request 1/2 hour of daily practice 6 days/week. As with any pursuit, the more you practice, the better you get. Likewise, the better you get, the more fun you have and the more you will want to practice.

Supplies for beginning/intermediate horn students
